Over the weekend we had a delightful afternoon high tea @ Anti:dote Lounge, Fairmont Singapore. We took the 'Antidote' tea set which comes with the black truffle scramble egg starter and refillable tea. The 'Oriental' tea set has the same food menu, the only difference is the starter (Dim Sum). Regardless which set you choose, the total cost per pax is $53 after tax and service charges.

Being a huge 'Mariage Freres' tea fan, I'm not fond of TWG (talk about brand loyalty). However these days almost ALL 5 stars hotels in Singapore serve only TWG tea. :( Well TWG is pretty good, but MF IS the true, original gourmet tea.
Anyway, moving on from tea.... the reason why we picked this place for high tea was because of how they present the desserts and sandwiches.
Yes, it comes in a 3 drawers vanity box! How awesome is this! The top layer has all the sweets, the first drawer has all the savoury, we have scones in the second drawer and biscuit in the last drawer. It was more than enough for 2 ladies. If you are looking for a unique high tea experience, do check it out. :)

Halloween is approaching and the most appropriate fairy tale for the occasion has to be "Hansel & Gretel". This dark fairy tale has been regarded as too violent and disturbing for children - children abandoned by their parents, encounter with a cannibal old woman and shoving this old woman into a pot to burn her to death.... Now you know why we never get to hear this fairy tale in school. But hey just like all fairy tales, despite the terrible encounters, there is always a "Happy Ending".

The children ran to the house and began nibbling. Hansel grabbed a handful of the gingerbread wall. Gretel bit into the clear sugar window.
“Nibbling, Nibbling like a mouse. Who is nibbling at my house?"
The sweet voice belonged to an old woman and she came outside to see Hansel and Gretel nibbling at her house. The children were frightened but the old woman was kind.
"My, my you dear children, who has brought you here? Come right in and stay with me. No harm will befall you."
"Look, Father! We're rich now . . . You'll never have to chop wood again and we'll never be hungry again."
And they all lived happily together ever after.
