The Year of the Monkey will start from Feb. 8, 2016 (Chinese New Year) and last to Jan. 27, 2017. Monkey is the ninth in the 12-year cycle of Chinese zodiac. The Years of the Monkey include 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016.
The Chinese animal zodiac, or shengxiao (生肖), is a repeating cycle of 12 years, with each year being represented by an animal and its reputed attributes. Traditionally these zodiac animals were used to date the years. People born in a certain animal year are believed to have attributes of that animal, which could either help or hinder a relationship. An important use of the Chinese Zodiac is to determine if (the signs of) two people are compatible, in a romantic relationship or any kind of relationship.
The 12 animals were chosen deliberately, after many revisions. The zodiac animals are either closely related to ancient Chinese people’s daily lives, or have lucky meanings. The ox, horse, goat, rooster, pig, and dog are six of the main domestic animals raised by Chinese people. The other six animals: rat, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, and monkey are all loved by the Chinese people.

I love this Tim Burton's animated movie. It was the first stop motion movie I've watched as a child and I love stop motion movies since then. It is a lot of hard work to make a stop motion movie, it took 3 years to complete "The Nightmare Before Christmas". As someone who has learn 3d animation in school, I can understand the triple effort required for a stop motion animation.
If you have not seen the movie, it is really more about Halloween than Christmas, still I love Jack and Zero and I just love watching it before Christmas.
Synopsis:
"The film follows the misadventures of Jack Skellington, Halloweentown's beloved pumpkin king, who has become bored with the same annual routine of frightening people in the "real world." When Jack accidentally stumbles on Christmastown, all bright colors and warm spirits, he gets a new lease on life -- he plots to bring Christmas under his control by kidnapping Santa Claus and taking over the role. But Jack soon discovers even the best-laid plans of mice and skeleton men can go seriously awry." - Wikipedia
I remember just recently when I was in a Paris Disney store and they started playing "What's this?" (my favourite song from the show) on the big screen and everyone, even the bored fathers, just stop what they are doing and stare at the screen to watch the video. It's really hilarious, as if time has stops and brought us to Christmastown. :)
Here's the song:
